ASTM F136 is a material specification for wrought titanium-6 aluminum-4 vanadium ELI alloy used for surgical implant applications. It defines requirements for the alloy—not an automatic certification of every finished piece of body jewelry.

What the standard covers

The current ASTM summary describes chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical requirements for wrought, annealed Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloy used to manufacture surgical implants. The scope includes product forms such as strip, sheet, plate, bar, forging bar, and wire.
