What the standard covers
The current ASTM summary describes chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical requirements for wrought, annealed Ti-6Al-4V ELI alloy used to manufacture surgical implants. The scope includes product forms such as strip, sheet, plate, bar, forging bar, and wire.

What the label does not prove by itself

- That surface finish, dimensions, threading, stone setting, assembly, cleaning, or packaging meet a separate quality standard.
- That every component in a multi-part piece uses the same material.
- That the finished product is medically approved, universally suitable, or risk-free.
A product described as “ASTM F136 titanium” should be matched to material documents and the applicable products or production lots.

How to write the claim responsibly
Lead with the exact material designation and keep the scope narrow. Avoid turning a material standard into a statement about universal safety, healing, allergy outcomes, or regulatory approval.
“Material documentation is available for applicable ASTM F136 titanium products on request.” Use only when that process is operational.
“Certified safe for everyone,” “guaranteed hypoallergenic,” or any medical outcome that the material record does not establish.
